Sexy Zumba lady and Happy Halloween

So, today was a normal Monday, which typically ends with a Zumba class in the evening.  Today was no different, except today was dress up day at Zumba.  Some people dressed up and took their costumes out for a test drive before Halloween on Wednesday and others played it safe and knew it would be too hot and sweaty to dress up in costumes for an hour long Zumba class.

Barry and I cooked up a surprise for class tonight, which nearly didn't happen.  Why?  Well, this is how I spent my afternoon:

Barry:  Show me the steps again.
Me:  Gangnam style starts playing.  I show him the steps.  Barry follows.
Barry: Stopping abruptly.  No,  I can't do this.  No, that's it.  I can't.
Me: Come on!  I told people we had a surprise.  This was your idea you have to do it!
Barry: I don't care, I'm not doing it.  I'm shitting meself.
Me: Come on...its just a few seconds!
Barry: No.  Right, go on show me the steps again.

Anyway, some form of this conversation went on over and over again most of the afternoon.  Turns out Barry did follow through with the surprise and it went over really, really well.  What was the surprise?  In case you haven't figured it out yet....

HE DRESSED UP LIKE ME and did a few seconds of our warm-up song which, at the minute, is Gangnam Style.

Here's my handsome husband:
There's Barry on the left.  That's a dead Mario and Luigi on the right.  Dead because they crashed their go karts.

Here are some of the lovely Zumbies who sported their costumes in class tonight.
Aww...there's the Zumba baby in her first Halloween costume before class.  Scary witch!

And now...the grand finale...the VIDEO of Barry's Gangnam Style warm-up:

Collective Facebook Updates

I have too many Facebook updates to post and I don't want to be a news feed hogger and post too many status updates...I do that enough with my Zumba posts.  But, I just feel like I need to get them out.  How did we get our mindless little thoughts and points out before Facebook?  Here's my collective Facebook status updates because I want them out of my head:

  • Why is everyone being so hard on Jessica Simpson?!! So what she's a bit heavier than she used to be!  She JUST HAD A BABY! Give her a break...jeez!

  • Are we really sure Psy is saying Gangnam Style and not open condom style because I'm pretty sure he's saying open condom style?

  • Are there any fun haunted houses in Derry for Halloween?

  • What is there fun to do in Liverpool?  I haven't been to England yet so I want to go and it is a direct flight from Derry....so....what's it like?  Plus, Liverpool apparently is only a short train ride from Manchester and guess what just opened in Manchester?  TACO BELL....oh, what!!!!

  • I really want some chocolate digestives and a cup of coffee.  Or even better, someone go to Starbucks and bring me back a Mocha Frappucino with no cream and a Skinny Lemon Poppy Seed Muffin.  I will take this anytime of day.  Thanks.

  • Has anyone watched the new Taylor Swift video, "We are never getting back together?"  And, if you have, have you noticed the fella dressed up like a cat or whatever he is (he is playing the guitar too I think) and how sooo in to the song he his?  I love him lol.   And, why is Taylor Swift suddenly so angry?  Have you listened to her new music?  Poor wee critter.
There he is above on Tayor's left.  Maybe he's a bear...or a raccoon?

  • Why do you call your underwear pants and your pants trousers here?  This just gets me in all types of tricky situations!  When I say pants, I mean my trousers not my underwear lol.

  • I so wish I could get on board with this whole metric system thing, but being American, I can't, I don't think I ever will.  I am constantly converting centimeters to inches and if you asked me right now how many centimeters are in an inch...I have no idea.

  • Barry and I both have gray Converse trainers and yesterday we wore them out together without realizing it and we looked soooooooo adorable lol.

  • Was anyone else sick of reading the sex scenes in the 50 Shades trilogy by the second book or was it just me?

  • Why is the Disco Ball jewerly at Argento so sparkly and beautiful?  I want all of it.

  • Why are Crunchies so darn good?

  • All the people that come to my classes are awesome and they work soooooo hard and do sooooo good!  I'm impressed every day by their energy and enthusiasm.

  • I can't believe Tesco has their Christmas wrapping paper and cards and stuff out!  It's September!!!!

  • Why do people say things like, "I'll do that today."  But, in reality, they won't do it today.  They know it and you know it.  What they really mean is "eh, I'll do it in 3 days or so."  Why don't they just say that?

  • Barry is a great cook!  And, no he didn't tell me to say that!  I am treated to a gourmet meal nearly every night...I can't tell you the last time I cooked something!

  • Does anyone have the recipe for O'Brien's cherry scones?  Ohhhh Meee Geeee, those things might as well be King Tut's golden undies in my book.  Yummmmmmm!
That is all.

Not my mini-me

Well...the jury is in.  The proof is in the pudding.  There's no denying it.  Isla is Barry's mini-me.  We knew this already, but after viewing Barry's baby pictures yesterday, it was clear.  She's his spitting image.

Barry's baby pics:

Aside from the fact that she has significantly more hair than Barry as a baby (and an adult :), they are almost identical.

A few of Isla:

I also had the pleasure of being a "celebrity" judge for Dance Fever 2011 last Friday.  It as for charity and just a bit of fun.

Me on the judges panel.

Although, the judges choice for winner did not win!  Since the winner was chosen  by a mixture of judges scores and audience scores, we weren't sure who was going to win.  But, I have a feeling the audience was made up of more men than women because...well, you'll see.  This is the group that won the competition:
The Burlesque dancers.  Winners of the 2011 Dance Fever competition.  Dupont Charity Night.

A gaggle of spiders

If you recall this post, you'll remember how much I hate spiders.  Nothing has changed...I still hate them.  Death to spiders.

So, last night I came home from Bingo (I'll pause now long enough for you to get a little giggle in about me going to Bingo)...

(Pause)

Yes, I've been going to Bingo with a couple of girls from my Zumba class on Monday nights.  I haven't won yet...but, I'm expecting to any day now!

Anyway, I came home from Bingo and walked in to the kitchen where I was greeted by this:
Well, technically it wasn't a tarantula but it might as well have been!  It was the size of a quarter or a 10p.

Naturally, I froze before calling Barry from his peaceful slumber.  He stumbled in to confront the beast.  But, see, he didn't want to kill it.  He was going to just pick it up in a paper towel and throw it out the window.  So, in the process of gingerly picking up the spider in a paper towel he dropped it!  Uh, yeah!  Dropped it!!!  Not only did he drop it, but it was so big, the spider actually made a "thud" noise as it hit the ground!  Seriously!

Luckily, he was able to pick it up and get it out of the house before I lost my shit.  But, I still didn't rest easy last night.  I dreamed of spiders all night.  They were falling on me from the sky.

Barry says that spiders don't travel in packs or groups, but I think he's wrong.  To prove him wrong I decided to Google the topic today to see if in fact spiders travel alone or in pairs or perhaps they travel in gaggles...I dunno.  A gaggle of spiders?  Yeah, I think I've heard of that before.  I didn't tell him I was searching the topic.

It just so turned out today that when I Googled the topic, I was using Barry's laptop and became distracted during my search and forgot to close out the web page.  So, when Barry used his computer again, it was still up there.

About ten minutes later, I receive this email from my wonderful, dear husband complete with photographs:

Dear Mrs Concannon,

we have since reviewed your internet activity and our committee has come to the conclusion that your 'net' privileges should be hereby suspended.  We feel also that due to your incessant coughing and general rowdiness at night that you should in future sleep in the street with the spiders. As to your query i have enclosed two photographs which
A. Pose the original question and
B. Answer the aforementioned question.
We at Google endeavour to answer any and all questions no matter how idiotic.

Thank you very much indeed.

And here are the photos that accompanied the email:

A screenshot of my Google search Barry took to prove I was busted I guess. The terms I searched for were "Do spiders travel alone?"

And, a photo that proves spiders do travel alone...although this doesn't really count.  I didn't ask Google if Spider Man travels alone!

He mentions the incessant coughing and general rowdiness in the email because my acid reflux has flared up big time thanks to being pregnant and my general rowdiness is simply because the acid reflux keeps me awake all night and I get bored so I make noise at night I suppose.  Eh, oh well.

And, if you're wondering...some spiders do travel in pairs!  Sleep easy.

Catheters are great

Barry was in the hospital this week for surgery.  He had to share his room with three other men.  They were older gentlemen all in for different things, but the one thing they had in common was a catheter.  Barry was actually the only one in the room that didn't have to have a catheter.  What follows is a catheter tale.

The night before surgery, Barry was lying in his bed.  One of the roommates (we'll call him Theo) had just returned from surgery.  They were chatting and then suddenly Theo starting making noises.  Something along the lines of "ummmm...errrrrrr."  Barry asked what was wrong.  Theo then asked each man in the room if they had in catheters.  Two of them responded that they did and Barry said no.  They asked him why.  Theo said, "Oh, I thought I had one.  I just wet the bed."  Poor guy.  Although they had a nice laugh over it, I suppose the hospital staff should always tell you when you are catheter free.

The conversation remained on catheters.  Another man in the room (we'll call him Duke), starting talking about catheters.  "Catheters are great.  You don't have to get up to use the toilet," he says.  If you ask me, I'd say I'd prefer to get up to use the bathroom, but whatever you say Duke.  But, Duke didn't stop there...oh no.  He continues, "The only problem with him is that you can't get an erection and you can't go to the beach when you have a catheter."  Um, whaaaaaa?  Because the two go so perfectly together...erections and beaches?  And, do you normally get erections at the beach?  Totally confused by that one.  I'm hoping he meant because you can't go the beach with a pee bag (that's the medical terminology for it, too) attached to you, but hey, you never know.  Maybe he's like this guy:

Google Image Search (Yes, I searched for the term "beach erections.")

So there you go.  Catheters are great except when it comes to those pesky beach erections.

All wrong

Google Image Search Photo

Barry and I were out browsing yesterday at Dunelm Mill, a shop that sells household items, decorations, etc.  We meandered through the bathroom section and came upon a wall of bathroom scales.  Barry pulled a scale down, set it on the floor and climbed aboard.  Then I heard: "That can't be right.  Naw, that's wrong there, hi."  I looked down at the number he was locked in on--10.  He weighed 10 stone (there are 14 pounds in a stone for my American readers.  So he weighed 140 pounds).  Not much right?  At least in my opinion anyway.

Not pleased with his weight on scale number one, he pulled another scale from the wall and climbed on.  Then, I heard: "Something's wrong with these 2 scales here. Naw I've always weighed 8 stone."  I glance down and see the number 10 yet again before saying, "Well, they can't all be wrong."  After he went on to rationalize his two stone weight gain by saying the clothes he had on were heavy, big boots, etc. blah blah blah, I felt like smacking him.

You see Barry has always had trouble gaining weight.  Until he quit smoking about a year and a half ago that is.  Of course, the half gallons of vanilla ice cream and half of a whole apple crumble in the evening for dessert doesn't help him much either as far as keeping his boyish figure.  I, on the other hand, have always had trouble keeping the weight off.  If I don't watch every morsel that passes through my lips and exercise til I'm blue in the face, I'll gain weight.

Up until our recent trip to Dunelm Mill, I kept telling Barry his trousers were getting too small, but he didn't believe me all the time arguing that they weren't (even though he had red marks pressing in on his skin from his tight jeans and could barely breath).  I guess even men take weight gain hard.  Needless to say, next weekend we won't be browsing for household items again...nope, we'll be going trouser shopping for fat arse...er, I mean Barry.
