Last week I placed an order with American Soda for some American food I'd been missing. Some of it I didn't even know I was missing until I saw it there on the website...calling to me...making my taste buds remember how scrumptious they are.
Rewind about four months ago, and imagine me shopping at Walmart for groceries...half of the crap I ordered from American Soda I wouldn't have picked up and put in my shopping cart, but now, for some reason, I just couldn't last another day on this earth without them...go figure.
Here is a photo of my order.
Since it isn't a super clear photograph, here is a list of the heavenly goods delivered to my door today:
Kosher dill pickles, Mott's applesauce, Nestle Toll House chocolate chips, Mug root beer, Life Savers Gummy Savers, Hershey's chocolate syrup, Hershey's kisses, Crisco shortening, Aunt Jemima corn bread mix, Kraft macaroni and cheese and the cherry on top was the box of Lucky Charms!
The macaroni and cheese, a couple of cans of root beer and gummy savers have already disappeared. Um, I'm not quite sure what happened to them. I think maybe they accidentally fell into the garbage. Yes, the garbage. That's what it was...I most certainly didn't sit down and eat and drink them all at once as if I'd been a starving Ethiopian...no that's not what happened at all.
What an awesome company. So glad you can order your American faves! Who could live w/o Lucky Charms?
ReplyDeleteI LIVED for the days I would shipments like this in the mail. Aren't they just the best!?? Dare I say, better than Christmas?! Enjoy your eats :)
ReplyDeleteOh I soooo relate to this! There's a American food website that I order from as well, and the stuff I buy is definitely not stuff I'd buy if I lived in the States, but I can't help myself.
ReplyDeleteAnd whenever I get back to the States (next trip in nine weeks!), I have a date with just me, Starbucks, and a trip to Walmart. I walk up and down every aisle so slowly, looking at everything. And you should see the stuff I buy! It's insanity. But it's my guilty pleasure and I can't wait! :-)
That is awesome! When I was in college, the closest Trader Joe's (which I love and shop at often) was 5 1/2 hours away in Chicago. A few times a year we would load up the car with coolers, ice and bags and buy as much as we could. Once we got back, I was always amazed at how quickly my special wares got used up :) Granted 5 1/2 hours in the car is a lot closer than a plane ride to the States, but I understand the sentiment and excitement of getting the package!
ReplyDeleteHA! If you find the root beer and mac n cheese, let us know. ;) Seriously though, I know how much this must've meant to you. Glad you could get these goodies from a truly unique and awesome company.
ReplyDeleteWow! It's hard to believe, but obviously makes sense that you can't get that stuff in Ireland!!! I would pound down some candy and soda just as well and I'm not deprived. uh-oh! :)
ReplyDeleteI would do the exact same thing! I have had a couple of serious cravings for Kraft Dinner here (that is what we Canadians call macaroni and cheese), not to mention some campbells chicken noodle soup. Oh, and thanks for reminding me how much I miss Lucky Charms and Mug root beer! This sounds like a dangerous website!
